Rainwater Kennels was established in the early 1970’s and is the most prominent  full service kennel facility in the area.  Larry and Helen Heil, the current owners, purchased the business in 1993 and have continued to offer outstanding service and care for their customers' pets, while adding new services and products to meet your needs.

For the hunters and nature watchers, we are located in south central Nebraska's Rainwater Basin. The area is noted  for extraordinary amounts of waterfowl, Sandhill Cranes, Whooping Cranes and Pheasants, and is a shooter's paradise for guns or cameras.

Our kennel is the largest pet care facility in Central Nebraska.  We offer dogs, cats, birds, pet care products, pet foods, boarding, grooming, and guided hunts using our award winning dogs and guides.

We train and sell quality hunting, show, and pet quality dogs throughout the United States. We invite you to peruse some of our litters of quality dogs, and you may e-mail us with any questions you may have.

Although we specialize in caring and training of dogs, we also have a wide variety of birds and cats and associated services and products. We have Canada Geese, Snow Geese, Ducks, Pheasants, Pigeons, Turkeys, Chuckers, and for the home, we have Love Birds, Parakeets, Cockatiels, and Finches.

We have been raising quality Labradors and German Shorthairs for over 25 years. We selectively breed 2-4 litters per year. We have also added an occasional English Pointer litter. Our Breeding stock comes from proven quality hunting dogs that have Hunt Test or Field Trial pedigrees. We have all breeding stock OFA certified and guarantee all of our puppies.

We carry a full line of quality pet foods, including the most popular brands: Premium Edge, Diamond, Nutra Nuggets, Country Value, Pro Plan, and Nutro, and we have FREE delivery within our immediate trade area.

Rainwater Kennels sells electronic pet containment systems and electronic training collars. We offer installation and/or instruction in the use of our  electronic training collars, electronic fences, and the training of your pet to use the system. Videos are available covering the installation and use of these items as well.

Please think of our facility as your pet’s school and home away from home. We have over 200 kennels that are both heated for winter and air-conditioned for summer, and our kennels are designed to allow your pet to freely move from inside his comfortable kennel to the private exercise area outside. In addition, our staff will walk and play with your dog in the large exercise area where the dog can run, play, and exercise. If you have a pet who just can't stand to be "home alone" or likes to chew the $100 Doc Martin shoes, we have a great program for day boarding. Just drop Fido or Taffy off on the way to work and pick her up on the way home.

We offer grooming services for all types and sizes of dogs and cats.  Our experienced and caring staff handle even the most assertive pet without sedatives.
